Our featured art form in this program is inspired by the blues music featured in our story – award winning singer/songwriter John Denny will be your featured artist.

December: Inspired by the book Shmelf the Hanukkah Elf by Greg Wolfe, this story helps us understand that there are different ways people celebrate this season. The very caring Shmelf the elf gets Santa’s seal of approval to become the Hanukkah elf. Our featured art form in this program is visual art.

January: Inspired by the book After the Fall (How Humpty Dumpty Got Back Up Again) by Dan Santant, our story helps us learn to overcome our fears and trauma. This will ensure that we go on to SOAR in life! Our featured art form in this program is theatre with the positive and inspirational Ms. Aaron.

February: Inspired by the book Saving the Day: Garrett Morgan’s Life Changing Invention by Karyn Parsons, this true story based on the life of a young man who is quite a dreamer, always thinking, until one day inspiration hits (literally) right in front of him. Get inspired with our featured art form of photography with Mr. Brandon.

Our featured art form in this program is eco art with our very own art teacher extraordinaire Mrs. Gloria.

May: Inspired by the book Mop Rides the Waves of Change by Jaimal Yogis, this surfing tale teaches us to care for our oceans and all the creatures that live there as well as learning to channel our anger and frustrations into positivity. An integral part of fly fishing and being a successful angler is understanding what the river or body of water is trying to tell you. With a keen eye you can get a pretty good understanding of what “the story” is no matter where you are fishing, before you make your first cast. Fly fishing guide Ben will show you what the main bait sources are for sport fish, show how we replicate those bait sources, where they can be found and how knowing this information and identifying these bait sources (bugs, baitfish, crawfish, frogs) can produce an up-close encounter with some of the nation’s most common native and sought-after species.

This program includes a reading of the book “Jangles: A Big Fish Story.” Mixing science, art, and fishing, this program hopes to inspire a love of nature and motivation to get outside and experience nature firsthand.
